Taiwan Cruise Ports

Introduction
Taiwan has an excellent geographical location and is richful with tourism resources. There are 7 main cruise ports in Taiwan so far, Port of Keelung, Port of Taichung, Port of Kaohsiung, Port of Hualien, Port of Anping, Port of Penghu and Port of Suao. All the above ports are available for large cruise ship and with full CIQS environment, which leads Taiwan the best cruise ports in Asia.

Port of Keelung is located at northeast Taiwan, where is the country’s largest cruise port and most-important cruise homeport. Tourism destinations such as YM Oceanic Culture and Art Museum, Heping Island Park, Zhongzheng Park, and Keelung Islet is near Taipei City offer plenty for cruise ship passengers to see and do while in port. Passenger and visitor services are provided at the port through the East and West Passenger Terminals.

Port of Taichung
Located halfway down Taiwan’s western coastline and facing the Taiwan Strait, the Port of Taichung is an important Cross-Strait ferry port and central Taiwan’s primary international cruise ship port of call. Popular slow-living ‘LOHAS’ destinations in the area include Mitsui Outlet Park, Taichung City Seaport Art Center, the Gaomei Wetlands, Lukang Old Street, and Shuimei Wood Sculpture Street, among others. Lively Taichung City is around a one-hour drive away. Comprehensive passenger and visitor services are provided through the Taichung Cruise Passenger Terminal.

Port of Anping
Located adjacent to Tainan City in southern Taiwan, Port of Anping and its environs were Taiwan’s first and foremost settlement in the 17th century. Nearby tourist attractions include Chikanlou (the old Dutch fort Provintia), Anping Old Street, Anping Fort (the old Dutch fort Zeelandia), Tainan Confucius Temple, and CHIMEI Museum. The entire area is rich in historical heritage, delicious traditional food, and important ecological resources. Wharf nos. 1~4 are equipped to handle medium-sized cruise ships. Port of Kaohsiung
Located in southwestern Taiwan, the Port of Kaohsiung (historical name: Takao) is not only one of the world’s largest container ports but also the country’s second-busiest cruise port. Easily accessible, popular tourism sites include the newly opened Great Harbor Bridge, Kaohsiung Port Warehouse No.2 (KW2), Kaohsiung Port Oceanfront Garden, Kaohsiung Port History Museum, The Pier-2 Art Center, and Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway. Port of Hualien
Located along Taiwan’s Pacific Coast, the Port of Hualien is a manmade port enclosed by high cement seawalls. The cruise terminal covers wharves 23 & 24 both of which are maintained to a depth of -13m and are capable of handling cruise ships up to the 225,000 tons. The Pacific Ocean on the east and Central Mountain Range on the west frame the area’s dramatically beautiful natural scenery. Taroko National Park nearby is a must-see destination for all cruise visitors.

Port of Suao
Located in the northeastern of Taiwan, port of Suao is an emerging cruise port in Taiwan. Warf 11 located next to the Passenger Terminal, has a berthing depth of 8.5 meters and can provide berthing for cruise ships with a gross tonnage of 30,000. Tourist attractions around Port of Suao include Dofu Cape Recreation Area, Nan-Fang-Ao Fishing Village, various characteristic Mazu culture, Suao Cold Spring, etc., providing international tourists with a variety of local sightseeing experiences.
