Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal to Welcome Concurrent Calls by Norwegian Spirit and The World on July 30th, Norwegian Spirit to Run Two Homeport Cruise Itineraries from the Port in July

97
Date :2024-07-18
Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal will officially kick off the 2024 summer homeport cruise season when Norwegian Spirit launches the first of two Kaohsiung-based cruise itineraries on July 22nd, with the second set to depart on July 26th. Each five-day itinerary will lead 2,000 mostly Taiwanese passengers northward from Kaohsiung to popular destinations in Japan’s Okinawa island chain, including Miyako-jima, Naha City, and Ishigaki-jima.

Norwegian Spirit, owned and operated by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a top-three global cruise operator, weighs in at 75,900 GRT with an overall length of 268.6m. The Norwegian Spirit is making its first return to Asia since completing a comprehensive US$100 million upgrade in 2021, and will call at Port of Keelung and Penghu Archipelago’s Magong Port before arriving at Kaohsiung to commence the abovementioned homeport cruise itineraries.

Norwegian Spirit is fully furnished with a bar, Starbucks café, and a Michelin-class restaurant as well as plenty of facilities for recreation and relaxation, live stage performances, exercise and ball-sport facilities, swimming pools, and a 5-star spa and salon. This all-encompassing floating resort offers so much to satisfy the culinary, leisure and entertainment needs of its guests.

This maiden visit follows the welcoming earlier this year by Port of Kaohsiung of the first dual calls by Norwegian Jewel and Riviera on February 28th. Norwegian Spirit and The World are similarly scheduled to share the Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal for one day as well on July 30th, marking the first time both homeport and port-of-call cruise ships will be in port simultaneously.

The World, a residential cruise ship featuring passenger-owned accommodations, weighs in at 43,000 gross tons, measures 196 meters in length, and typically carries up to 200 passengers. Currently on a 5-year voyage, The World is scheduled to arrive in port on July 28th at 18:00 (6:00pm) and depart on July 30th at 23:00 (11:00pm) for its next destination, Manila in the Philippines. The 3-day, 2-night stay in Kaohsiung will allow passengers to take full advantage of southern Taiwan’s plethora of cultural attractions and other enticements.
